SettlePou’s own Rob Coleman had a great time Saturday working at one of the Salvation Army red kettle stations in West Little Rock, Arkansas. The Rotary Club of Little Rock Afterhours rang the bells all day Friday and Saturday raising money for the Salvation Army. In 2018, the Salvation Army’s red kettle campaign raised $143 million with 3 million people volunteering throughout the year. The Salvation Army debuted the red kettle in San Francisco in 1891. The first kettle was actually a crab pot and by 1900, red kettles were in use nationwide for the organization. If you have time to give back this holiday season, volunteering as a bell ringer is a great way to spread good cheer for a worthy cause, and please also remember to contribute what you can to the red kettle when shopping at your favorite stores.
