Steven M. Thomas
Steve Thomas began his legal career as counsel with the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), before spending about 10 years as a commercial litigator. Steve’s varied and in-depth legal experience in lending, bankruptcy, and litigation gives him a unique and invaluable perspective. Having represented bank and non-bank lenders for over 20 years, he brings strong expertise to SettlePou’s Commercial Lending and SBA & USDA Lending practices.
In his Commercial Lending practice, Steve provides a broad spectrum of services in documenting and closing loans, including review and analysis of various due diligence issues. He has earned his certification from the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO) and has been designated by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) as a 504 Closing Attorney for over 13 years.
Prior to joining SettlePou, Steve worked as a litigator, handling a wide variety of cases involving complex commercial disputes. His work involved representation at both the trial court and appellate levels in state and federal court. Steve is also a former attorney with the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), performing services in both the Area III Disaster Loan Office and the Dallas District Office.
Away from the office, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, exercise, and travel.
