SettlePou attorneys Oliver Krejs, Katherine Killingsworth, and Brad McLain successfully represented the Mt. Pleasant Independent School District in a personal injury case brought by a school bus driver. On behalf of the school district, SettlePou moved the trial court to dismiss the case on a Plea to the Jurisdiction, but the plea was denied. On appeal, SettlePou successfully argued that the school district had not waived its sovereign immunity and the trial court did not have subject matter jurisdiction. The Sixth Appellate District of Texas at Texarkana agreed and reversed the trial court's ruling and rendered judgment in favor of the school district. For more, see Mt.
